The double shaft mixer is an integrated mixing equipment specifically designed for the fertilizer industry, widely used in the production lines of organic fertilizers, compound fertilizers, and functional fertilizers. This equipment integrates material conveying, humidification, mixing, and blending, solving the pain points of traditional mixing equipment such as uneven mixing, inconsistent moisture levels, severe dust generation, and material stratification. It has become an indispensable core piece of equipment in fertilizer production lines of all sizes.

The double shaft mixer utilizes the synchronous rotation of two symmetrical spiral shafts to simultaneously convey powdered materials and add water for mixing, uniformly humidifying the materials to prevent the emergence of dry ash or water droplets. This equipment is mainly suitable for mixing materials such as organic fertilizers, compound fertilizers, blended fertilizers, and feed, and is also widely used in thermal power plants, mines, and other industries for humidifying and loading fly ash or similar materials. As a key pre-mixing stage in organic and compound fertilizer equipment, the uniformity of the mixture directly determines the pelleting rate and nutrient consistency of the finished fertilizer.

Equipment Structure

The double axismixer is mainly composed of a casing, a mixing shaft assembly, a driving device, an atomization humidification system, piping, a cover plate, a chain cover and other components.
(1) Chassis system: The casing is mainly composed of plates and steel welds, and is the support structure of the double axismixer. The shell is tightly sealed and there will be no flying ash or ash leakage. The horizontal long tank design extends the material mixing stroke and mixes more thoroughly.
(2) Mixing shaft assembly: It is the main component of the double axismixer, including left and right spiral shafts, bearing seats, bearing sleeves, bearing caps, gears, sprockets, oil cups, blades and other parts. The left and right spiral shafts require high manufacturing precision, good process performance, and strict coordination requirements with bearing components.
(3) Driving device: including motor, reducer, transmission gear and sprocket. The gears and sprockets are protected by protective covers and can operate effectively and safely. The double axismixer is a continuous working equipment and must be operated in strict accordance with the instruction manual.
(4) Atomizing humidification system: including water-adding and humidifying piping, joints and nozzles. The nozzle uses a stainless steel atomizing cone nozzle, which is arranged above the inside of the mixer casing and arranged axially along the spiral axis to form a water curtain to facilitate humidification and mixing of the material. The nozzle has a simple structure, is easy to replace, is corrosion-resistant and durable.
(5) Covers and inspection devices: including left cover, middle cover, right cover, hole cover and inspection hole cover, etc. There are inspection holes on both sides of the double axismixer to facilitate daily inspection and maintenance by operators. The equipment has a reserved access port for convenient daily cleaning and replacement of accessories.

Types of available raw materials

Double axis mixers can process a wide variety of raw materials.

Organic fertilizer raw materials: well-rotted livestock and poultry manure (chicken manure, pig manure, cow manure, etc.), straw powder, mushroom residue, and biogas residue.

Chemical fertilizer raw materials: nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium powders, inorganic salt raw materials, and finely crushed powder from agglomerated return materials. Other materials: fly ash, feed ingredients, biomass pellets, etc.

Working principle of the equipment

The double shaft mixer employs a twin-shaft counter-rotating spiral mixing principle. During operation, the pulverized powdered material enters the mixing tank at a uniform speed through the feed inlet. The two main shafts rotate synchronously in opposite directions, driving the spiral blades to tumble, knead, convection, and push the material, ensuring comprehensive mixing without dead zones. Simultaneously, a high-precision atomizing spray system evenly sprays water or nutrient solution to regulate material humidity, achieving simultaneous material proportioning, humidification, and conveying.

The blades on the two shafts rotate in opposite directions; one pushes inward while the other carries outward, continuously tumbling, shearing, and convectioning the material within the drum. Because of the twin-shaft cross-mixing, the material is not simply pushed along but repeatedly dispersed and mixed vertically and horizontally, resulting in a significantly higher uniformity compared to single-shaft mixers.
